We thought we’d share with you some interesting facts about one of our favourite ranges of oak furniture, The Modern Sheesham furniture range.

Sheesham Oak furniture is crafted from the wood of the Sheesham tree, also known as Indian Rosewood. It is a popular choice for furniture due to its durability, natural beauty, and rich grain patterns. Here are some key points to know about Sheesham Oak furniture:

The Sheesham Furniture Range
The contemporary design of all the Sheesham Furniture pieces is bold yet minimalist with slimline chrome bar handles where used. The range is extensive and includes pieces for living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms and hallways. Many pieces are adaptable and can also be used in a study or work area. We’re confident you will find something special for your home in the Modern Sheesham range.
Lounge Furniture
Modern Sheesham has an exceptional range of furniture for your lounge. Versatile pieces such as bookshelves, display units and chests can also be used in a dining room, bedroom or hallway.
TV Media Units
For your lounge, we have your TV and media needs covered whether you have a standard size TV to the largest screens available.
We have a Corner TV Unit which is ideal if you have a smaller lounge as it fits neatly into the corner. Also, for the smaller TV and lounge, there is the Small TV unit which measures just 820mm wide. The next size up is the 1000mm wide TV Video cabinet with its two open compartments for your media or games consoles and the 4 small drawers provide handy storage space.
For a larger TV, there is the 1200mm wide Plasma TV Unit which has space for your media and games consoles with four useful drawers to store remotes and other smaller items.
For the very largest TV’s the 4 Drawer TV Unit is perfect. It is 2m wide so will accommodate the largest of TVs and the four drawers provide handy storage for DVDs, remotes and other small items.
So no matter how large or small your TV is, we have the perfect media unit for your needs in Modern Sheesham.
Sideboards and Drawers
Modern Sheesham has an extensive range of sideboards and chests in various sizes which are ideal as storage in your lounge for everything from books, photos albums, hobby materials and your favourite china and glassware.
For maximum storage, there is the craftsman-made Large Sideboard. It has two cupboards and three central drawers. The sideboard is made using traditional joinery methods using dovetail joints on the drawers. This unit provides ample storage space in a lounge or dining room. For extra display space and to create the feel of a traditional sideboard, you can place the Multi Shelf unit atop the sideboard. This is a perfect place to display your favourite books, glassware and any other treasured possessions you wish to showcase.
If you are looking for a smaller more compact sideboard, we have the Small Sideboard with one cupboard and three drawers.
We also have a range of chests of drawers that provide stylish storage. For all of your CDs or other smaller items, there is the CD Almirah which holds up to 200CD’s.
Drawers
The 5 drawer Tallboy whilst traditionally is a bedroom piece, it’s useful to provide extra storage in a lounge whilst taking up only a small footprint. This chest is ideal to store books, paperwork, craft supplies helping your lounge to stay clutter-free.
Coffee tables
Coffee tables are invaluable in a lounge, somewhere to place a drink, a lamp or store magazines and books. Modern Sheesham has a range of practical yet beautiful coffee tables.
Nests
Firstly, we look at the nests of tables which are ideal if you don’t have the space to house a large coffee table. When stacked together they take up minimal space but can easily be moved around the room for family and guests to place a drink upon. They are also ideal as small lamp tables or a place to display a pot plant, a vase of flowers or your favourite photo frame. We have the Nest of three tables, a Nest of two tables and the Cube that fits snugly inside a table – all three are shown below.
Larger Coffee Tables
Our larger coffee tables are all craftsman made to exacting high standards with a distinctive and unique grain to each piece.
There is the Square coffee table, the Long John Coffee table with two smaller tables housed inside the first, ideal for an occasional guest coffee table. There is also the clean uncluttered lines of the Contemporary Coffee table with a lower shelf which is ideal to keep books and magazines.
If you prefer a more traditional shape coffee table with lots of storage, we have the Sheesham Coffee Trunk with its echoes back to a traditional apothecary table. Four drawers on either side provide handy storage for books, DVDs and other smaller items.

Lamp Tables
Adding a well-placed lamp in your lounge can add atmosphere, create warmth and even help you relax. Any of our coffee tables can be used as lamp tables, but if you are looking for something a little different, why not try our S Unit or E unit. You can place a lamp atop and then display your favourite items on the shelf under. These units add interest to any room with their unique shapes.
Display units
A unique offering from Modern Sheesham, is our range of multi-shelf open display units. They have strong shapes and geometric lines and look great even when empty and look even better when your favourite possessions are displayed upon them. There are 9 different shapes and sizes of these display units. They start with a small 2 Hole Unit up to the larger Combination Display Unit at 1100mm wide and 1800mm high.
The unique ability of these display units is that they can be used alone as a statement piece, some can be placed atop a sideboard and all can be used together in any combination to showcase your books, ornaments and other favourite things. The larger unit is also ideal as a room divider to break up space between say a living and dining area. Being open, they won’t create a block wall in your lounge and you can see your possessions from both sides of the unit. Bookcases
Bookcases provide additional storage for items you wish to keep on display, ornaments, vases, glassware or your favourite photos. We have the solid back 3 Shelf Bookcase and a smaller open-back Slim Jim bookcase, perfect for a smaller footprint.

Bedroom Furniture
As the Sheesham oak is widely known for its durability and strength, it makes it a perfect material for large pieces of furniture such as beds, wardrobes and chests of drawers. Modern Sheesham furniture will make any bedroom in a modern home or older style property look beautifully stylish.
Beds
Undoubtedly the most important piece of furniture in a bedroom. A place to rest and relax, get a good night’s sleep and enjoy lazy lie-ins. We have two sizes of bed, the 5ft Kingsized bed and the 6ft Superking. Our advice would be to select the biggest bed you have space for. The more space you have in bed, the better nights sleep you will get.
The solid headboard gives support to its occupants whilst relaxing watching Tv or reading a good book at bedtime.
Both sizes of beds are constructed by craftsmen using traditional joinery methods and due to the strength and durability of Sheesham Oak, will last for many years and continue to provide a great night’s sleep.
Wardrobes
The Sheesham Oak wardrobe is a large double wardrobe that provides full-width hanging rails with space under for shoes, handbags or folded jeans. The large drawer in the base is ideal for bulky winter clothes such as jumpers and sweatshirts. These elegant modern wardrobes with their beautiful natural wood tomes will make an ideal centrepiece of any bedroom.
Bedsides
To go with your modern Sheesham bed, we have the 3 Drawer Bedside Cabinet. Perfect to place a reading lamp and store your books and other items in the drawers. The unit is the perfect height to reach a morning cuppa or a bedtime drink from your bed. The clean lines of the design are enhanced by the simple yet elegant steel bar handles.

To maintain a clutter-free bedroom, storage is of paramount importance in a bedroom. You need a place for all your belongings so you can easily find what you are looking for when rushing to get ready for work on a busy morning.

Blanket Box
A blanket box is an ideal piece of furniture to store bulky items such as spare bedding, books shoes or bags. This box is also suited as a children’s toy box, a shoebox in a hallway or even as a craft supplies box or books/magazine storage in a lounge. It is a very versatile piece of furniture.
Dressing Table/Desk
If you are looking for an area to use as a dressing table or desk, try the Console Table. Placed against a wall with a Modern Sheesham Mirror behind it makes it the perfect dressing area with a shelf under it to store all your beauty apparel. It can also double up as an occasional work desk.
Dining Room/Dining Area
Whether your dining area is a self-contained room, an open plan area of your kitchen or lounge, Modern Sheesham Dining furniture will make a statement and provide a beautiful space to gather and entertain family and friends.
If your dining area is part of your lounge, this is where the tall display units act as a natural zoning divider between areas. If your dining area is part of your kitchen, the dark hues and natural tones in the Sheesham Oak blend perfectly with many styles of kitchen, modern or traditional.
Tables and Chairs
Tables
The first and most important piece of furniture in a dining room is, of course, the table. The size of the table will depend on how many people regularly eat at your table. The Large Sheesham Table will comfortably seat 6 with three people at each side of the table. At 1600mm wide there will be plenty of space to enjoy your meal. The smaller table at 900mm wide will easily seat 4 diners in comfort.
As the tables are made from very strong durable Sheesham Oak, they are also ideal to use for homework, crafts or just space to relax and enjoy a drink with a good book or magazine. The design of both tables is sleek, modern and uncluttered. When not in use there is plenty of space to store the chairs under the tabletop.

Chairs
There are two styles of chairs to choose from, the more traditional High Back Slat Chair and the Bycast Leather chair in beige, brown or deep red. The handcrafted High Back chairs are sturdy and comfortable and will sit neatly with either size of table in the range. The leather chairs offer a further degree of comfort and a pop of colour. The padded upholstery will seat your diners in comfort whilst your dining room has a touch of modern luxury.

Mirrors
