Bald Eagle Edge Sculpture

The impressive Bald Eagle Edge Sculpture forms part of the Birds collection from the Edge Sculpture range. Designed and craftsman made in England by the renowned and talented Sculptor Matt Buckley, this powerful Bald Eagle is thoughtfully sculpted with an emphasis on aesthetic design moulded with the mind’s eye. Each piece is thoughtfully designed and has a unique feel with a dramatic mix of form, colour, light and texture to faithfully represent the beauty and strength of the actual bird.

The bald eagle, with its snowy-feathered (not bald) head and white tail, is the proud national bird symbol of the United States—yet sadly the bird was nearly wiped out in the USA. For many decades, bald eagles were hunted for sport and to protect of fishing grounds. Also, pesticides like DDT also wreaked havoc on these eagles. However, since the use of DDT was heavily restricted in 1972, eagle numbers have improved significantly and have also been aided by reintroduction programs. The result is a wildlife success story. The actual Bald Eagle has an impressive wingspan of between 6 and 8 feet, our sculpture takes up a little less room at 380mm high and 280mm wide making it perfect to stand inside a display cabinet or atop a chest of drawers or sideboard.

The range of the powerful Bald Eagle includes most of Canada and Alaska, all of the contiguous United States, and northern Mexico. This sculpture truly represents the power and beauty of this amazing bird of prey and the sculpture will be a perfect addition to any collector of wildlife and birds of prey collection.

How The Bald Eagle Edge Sculpture is made

The original bald Eagle Edge Sculpture is moulded and given life from clay that is then expertly encapsulated in rubber to produce the parent mould.

It is then cast from a durable composite granite and are vacuum sealed with a bleed as to remove compromising air bubbles from the structure. The curative period is then initiated and sustained until the structure is aptly hardened.

The bald eagle is then meticulously examined and fettled as to outline the depth of detail and heighten the sculptures natural form. For finishing it is then passionately coloured, shaded and detailed by our expert artists to carefully represent the bald eagle; completing the creation of a masterpiece
