About Badgers

Badgers are one of the UK’s most iconic and endearing native animals, known for their distinctive markings, strong build, and nocturnal habits. Living in family groups within underground setts, they are highly social creatures with complex behaviours and strong bonds within their clans.

Often seen as shy yet determined, badgers spend their nights foraging for food, with earthworms making up a large part of their diet, alongside berries and other woodland finds. Their movements and habits have inspired many stories over the years, highlighting both their resilience and their charm.

Despite their gentle and fascinating nature, badgers have at times been misunderstood, particularly in relation to farming and bovine TB. However, growing understanding and research have helped to present a more balanced view of these animals, allowing more people to appreciate them for the unique and important role they play in the countryside.

“A fearlessly bold unit, with his strong and rugged frame
A burly nighttime bandit where foraging is his game

Savouring one or two Earthworms, yet consuming many is the lore
And now with a belly oh so brimming, he dozes loudly with a snore

Yet back up for all those berries of course, sampling the woodlands finest jam
Now wonderfully crushed and fermented, he now spins dizzy with his clan

Hugging all the hedgehogs and dancing with all the friends he’s met
Before beating down the gate to slumber as he slumps deep within his sett”

Each design begins as a hand-sculpted clay original, capturing the raw energy and character of the subject. From there, bespoke moulds are created to reproduce every subtle detail using a unique blend of marble stone casting.
