Baby Gorilla – Snowflake – Edge Sculpture – ED36W

Description

Baby Gorilla – Snowflake – Edge Sculpture

Snowflake is the most unique Edge Sculpture made by Matt Buckley. All Edge Sculpture creatures are based on the character and majesty of the original animal. Snowflake goes one step further, he is an actual albino gorilla found in 1966 that was sold to Barcelona Zoo where he spent the rest of his life. So far, he is the only albino gorilla to be found anywhere in the world, making this Edge Sculpture really special to honour the real Snowflake.

A breeding programme was established but out of Snowflakes children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, no further albinos have been born making him truly unique.

This beautiful sculpture will look great on its own or also makes a lovely display sitting alongside the black baby gorilla. These sculptures are perfect for lovers of wildlife and make a great gift or a perfect addition to your own sculpture collection.

How the Snowflake Edge Sculptures are made

The original piece is moulded and given life from clay that is then expertly encapsulated in rubber to produce the parent mould.

The pieces are then cast from a durable composite granite and are vacuum sealed with a bleed to remove compromising air bubbles from the structure. The curative period is then initiated and sustained until the structure is aptly hardened.

The piece is then meticulously examined and fettled to outline the depth of detail and heighten the sculptures natural form. For finishing it is then passionately coloured, shaded and detailed by our expert artists; completing the creation of a masterpiece.
