Description
The stunning Edge Sculpture Baby Chimpanzee “See no Evil”, is part of the collection of three chimps which are based upon the Japanese proverb, “hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil“, also known as the Three Wise Chimps, but with a playful twist. They are the Cheeky Monkeys of the Edge collection!
Like us, chimps are highly social animals, they care for their offspring for years and can live to be over 50. In their habitat in the forests of Central Africa, chimpanzees spend most of their days in the treetops. They are clever animals, using tools to eat and drink such as sticks to fish termites out of mounds and bunches of leaves to soak up drinking water.
Chimpanzees are our closest cousins and we share about 98% of our genes. Therefore these sculptures have been designed to have a humanistic and playful demeanour about them.
Th See no Evil baby chimp makes the perfect companion for either of the other Three Wise chimp sculptures, Hear no Evil and Speak no Evil or it also looks great partnered with any of the other baby ape sculptures such as the Orangutan Baby Oh, Orangutan Baby and the Gorilla Baby. How the Baby Chimpanzee “See no Evil” is made
The original piece is moulded and given life from clay that is then expertly encapsulated in rubber to produce the parent mould.
The pieces are then cast from a durable composite granite and are vacuum sealed with a bleed to remove compromising air bubbles from the structure. The curative period is then initiated and sustained until the structure is aptly hardened.
The piece is then meticulously examined and fettled to outline the depth of detail and heighten the sculpture’s natural form. For finishing it is then passionately coloured, shaded and detailed by our expert artists; completing the creation of a masterpiece.
