About the Sloth

Sloths are famous for their slow, deliberate movements, an adaptation that conserves energy and helps them blend into the forest canopy where they spend most of their lives. They move so gently that algae often grows in their fur, giving them a greenish tint that acts as natural camouflage. Sloths are also strong swimmers, despite their unhurried pace on land and in the trees. Mothers are particularly attentive, carrying their young on their bodies for months and teaching them how to navigate the treetops. These fascinating creatures remind us of the beauty of taking life at a slower pace, something perfectly reflected in this sculpture.
