Dining Furniture
Penelope Grey Painted dining furniture has all you need for a new look for your dining room. Let’s start with the most important dining room furniture, the table. The table you choose will depend on the size and shape of your room plus how many people you seat on a regular basis and how many people you have room for when you entertain.
Choosing a table size/shape
A round table can give the illusion of space as it doesn’t have angular corners. Some people may prefer the sociability of a round table as all your guests are facing each other with no one stuck on c corner. However, if you have a larger number of people to seat, then a large extending rectangular table may be a wise choice.
Whatever size or shape of table you prefer, be sure to make sure you have enough space in your dining room/area to be able to walk around the table easily. The simplest way to do this is to cut out a template to the size of the table on card or paper. Lay it on the floor where you propose to place the table. Then check you can walk around it and that there is sufficient space for people to be seated easily.

Penelope Tables
There are three tables to choose from in this range. There are two extending rectangular tables and a farmhouse style round table.
Round Table Extending Table
The round extending table is ideal for that little extra space when entertaining but isn’t needed every day. When not extended the table measures 1100mm depth which will comfortably seat four people. When extended, it reaches 1450cm which gives you space for another seat or just more elbow room!
The table has an oak lacquered top which will resist damage from most general activities. It just needs a wipe clean with a damp cloth and we advise that spillages be wiped up as soon as they happen. This round table is supported by a sturdy pedestal and four feet. It is a classic farmhouse shape but with a modern twist with its grey painted finish.
Small Rectangular Table
The small rectangular table starts at 1250mm which will comfortably seat four people, two on each side of the table.
When extending the table reaches 1650mm which should give you enough space to add a second chair on each side of the table or seat a person at each end of the table.
The finish of this beautiful table is just like the round table, a lacquered oak top and the soft grey painted finish for the table.
The styling of the rectangular table is less farmhouse than the round table with straight table legs.
Large Rectangular Table
The large rectangular table is a real statement piece, it starts at 1800mm width and when extended is an impressive 220mm wide.
This table has farmhouse style chunky pedestal legs at each end of the table making it sturdy and strong. This table is perfect for larger spaces where maybe a smaller table would look a little lost. If you have space, why not keep the table fully extended with place settings left on display or maybe a large vase of flowers middle of the table. For larger gatherings of family and friends, this table will be perfect for entertaining with loads of space to relax and enjoy a meal together.
Of course, any of the above tables are also ideal as a temporary workspace with loads of room for a laptop, a homework space, a craft table for children or a sewing table. The large table when extended makes a fantastic cutting out table for the sewers amongst us!
Penelope Chairs
The Penelope chairs are perfectly styled to match the round or the rectangular extending tables. They are made to fit snugly under the table when not in use and are a comfortable place to rest upon whilst dining or working.
The chairs have the same soft grey painted finish as the tables with a toning grey fabric seat pad. The chairs are sold separately, so if you choose four chairs to go around a smaller table, you can always order more later when you need them. Spare chairs can be a problem to find a home for when they are not in use. If you don’t want to keep spares around the table, try placing a chair on the corner of the dining room or even in a kitchen or hallway. Just make sure they are not too far away from your dining area so they can easily be moved when needed.
Dining Room Storage
The Penelope Grey Painted Dining Furniture range has various pieces that are ideal for storage. To keep your dining room tidy and clutter-free, good storage is essential. It can even provide space to stow away excess kitchen apparel such as serving dishes or glassware.
In many homes, the dining area is part of an open plan living room or kitchen. This means we need to have all the things we need for mealtimes easily to hand but neatly stored away. With the Penelope grey Painted range there are various options for stylish storage that will look great in a stand-alone dining room or a multipurpose open plan area. Here we look at a few of our favourites.
Penelope Grey Painted 2 Door Dresser with Oak Top and Medium Sideboard
This is a perfect piece for a dining area as it has loads of storage and a place to display your favourite china, glassware or other serving plates and dishes.
The base, the sideboard is 1399mm wide so doesn’t take up a huge space. It has loads of storage with six drawers and a double cupboard with interior shelves. This is a perfect place to store your placemats, favourite serving cutlery, table cloths and any other dining ware you need to be stored tidily.
The dresser part of this unit is a double fronted glazed unit with two sturdy shelves, perfect for displaying glassware, flatware and serving dishes.
As with the tables, remember to check you have sufficient space for this unit, don’t forget to check the height, especially if you have an older property with low ceilings or beams.
Penelope Painted Glazed Display Cabinet with Oak Top – 2 Door Cabinet
If you are needing something with a smaller footprint but still with ample display space, try the Penelope Glazed 2 Door Display cabinet.
With a diminutive width of just 950mm, it has a height of 1850mm so it still provides ample storage and a great place to display your favourite glassware of dishes.
The double cupboard is a useful space for placemats, table cloths or serving cutlery. The shelves are craftsman made and will not buckle under any weight you may place on them.
Penelope Grey painted Large Sideboard
If you have space and need maximum storage, then the large sideboard is perfect. It is the largest sideboard in this range at an impressive 1662mm wide. It has four sturdy drawers and two double cupboards with shelves.
There is ample storage for all your dining ware or if you use your dining area for crafts and homework, this large sideboard can also become a perfect place to store craft materials. Thanks to the storage provided in this sideboard, your dining room will remain tidy and clutter-free.
The oak top of the sideboard is an ideal place to display your favourite collectables, picture frames, a plant or vase of flowers and if there is a power point nearby, adding a lamp is a great way to add some subtle lighting to your dining area.
Penelope Grey Painted Medium Sideboard
The medium sideboard has all the advantages of the large sideboard but takes up less space with a width of 1399mm. It has two double cupboards and six deep drawers so still provides plenty of storage to help keep your dining area tidy.
Penelope Grey Painted Small Sideboard
If you need storage space but don’t have space for the largest sideboards, then the small sideboard may be just the thing you are looking for.
With two drawers and two deep strong drawers, it provides great storage space for your dining area. It measures just 988mm wide so will fit on a smaller wall leaving you more open space in your dining area. Just like the larger sideboards, it has a solid oak lacquered top that will just need a light dusting with a soft cloth to keep it in tip-top condition.
Penelope Grey Painted Console Table
The Penelope Console table, although originally designed for a narrow hallway, also makes for great storage in a smaller dining area. The two drawers are ideal for your placemats and the base is ideal to place baskets upon for extra storage.
The console table is just 1080 wide and 400 deep.
Other Penelope Grey Painted Furniture
